On Friday 25 April 2008 mag. Marko Starman, State Secretary in the Office for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy, spoke at the conference on local employment development “Harnessing an Entrepreneurial Spirit for Inclusive Local Employment Development” - the development of holistic strategies to further employment and economic development at the local level.
This conference aimed to consider the state-of-the-art in local employment development, addressed some of the challenges arising from the Lisbon agenda, and considered the emerging issues that local actors will need to look at in the future.
Local Employment Development has seen a flourishing of ideas, best practice, and creative partnerships over recent years. Many challenges still remain, and different localities across the European Union are at different stages in their local development.
The conference also focused on the impacts of flexicurity and migration at the local level.
